Platform: the basics. How to add a platform on Takeads

  • Updated

A platform is a website, extension, or another resource, solution, or program you want to monetize.

Read Takeads. The basics to learn how platform monetization works.

How to add a platform

1. Go to the My platforms section, click Add platform and select the type of setup in the tabs:

  • Easy setup. Get the ready-made JavaScript code and add it to your website template.
  • API setup. Integrate your platform via API.
  • 2. Select your platform type and specify platform details in the following fields:

    • Platform link is a link to your platform.
    • Platform name is your platform name.
It’ll only be shown in your account. You can change it whenever you need to.

    Click Next.

    3. Copy the JavaScript code from the respective field and paste it before your platform’s closing </body> tag. You can add it to the website template or specific pages. Learn more about adding JavaScript code to a platform

    Click Next.

    4. If needed, configure settings on the new page:

    • Blacklist. Forbid Takeads to replace direct links to specific websites with affiliate links. To do so, add the domains of these websites to the Blacklist.

    • Section Targeting. Set up Takeads for specific website sections or elements. You can include or exclude them.

    • Link Activator. Allow Takeads to turn inactive links into clickable ones to monetize them.

    • Branding Words. Allow Takeads to embed affiliate links into brand names on the website. You can also set the maximum number of such names on a page and/or forbid Takeads to embed links into specific brand names.

    Click Finish.

  • 2. Select your platform type and specify platform details in the following fields:

    • Platform link is a link to your platform.
    • Platform name is your platform name.
It’ll only be shown in your account. You can change it whenever you need to.

    Click Next.

    3. Add origin for your platform and click Next.

    Examples of origins:

    For a website: https://www.example.com
For a website with a port other than 80: https://www.example.com:8080
    For a Chrome extension: chrome-extension://extension_id

    • Authorized origins are a security feature used to prevent unauthorized access to private data. Without this feature, attackers can easily steal personal information and do other malicious activities.

At Take API, an origin is mainly defined by its protocol, domain name, and port number if the website port is anything other than port 80.

The website sends requests to the TakeAds API only from the authorized origin. If any other origin attempts to access the API, the request will be blocked as it doesn’t match the allowed origin.

    4. In the respective fields, get your credentials: Platform ID and Public key. Use these credentials for API setup. Go to API documentation

    Click Finish.
